A uterine fibroid is a benign (non-cancerous) growth that forms in the uterus — out of the muscle tissue of the uterine wall, which is where its name comes from. It’s one of the most common findings during a woman’s reproductive years: past age 35, more than 50% of women have them. Sometimes fibroids grow large enough to cause various symptoms; other times they turn up entirely by chance.
There are different ways to treat fibroids — some with medication, some surgical. Our team assesses each case precisely and tailors the treatment to the individual patient’s needs. Where needed, an appointment will be set for one of the possible surgical options for treating fibroids.
