Menopause Clinic

About the clinic

Menopause is the stage of life after periods stop, usually around a woman’s late forties to early fifties. Levels of female hormones gradually drop, and this brings on a range of symptoms.

Menopause affects more than fertility and periods. It touches other systems in the body too, so it needs a whole-body approach. And as women live longer and longer, caring for this stage of life matters more than ever.

Our clinic offers complete care for menopause symptoms: diagnosis, advice, treatment, and follow-up, all tailored to you. The clinic was founded and led by the late Prof. Barry Kaplan, one of Israel’s leading experts in the field.

Everything you need to know

The main symptoms of menopause
  • Changes to your cycle and irregular periods
  • Hot flashes
  • Vaginal and bladder changes, which can cause discomfort, dryness, burning, and sometimes bleeding. These changes also raise the risk of infection.
  • Sleep problems: trouble falling asleep, waking often, or waking too early, which can leave you tired during the day
  • Restlessness and mood changes
  • Metabolic changes

Every woman goes through menopause differently. Some have many symptoms and a lot of discomfort, while others barely notice any at all.

  • The hospital works with all the HMOs, and members of every health fund are welcome.
  • Maccabi and Meuhedet members are seen at the clinic with a referral only, or by paying according to the hospital’s price list.
  • Under our agreements with Clalit and Leumit as well, Form 17s are issued for outpatient clinic visits, or you can pay according to the hospital’s price list.

Osteoporosis

The drop in hormones affects more than your metabolism and the health of your heart and blood vessels. It also affects how your bones renew themselves. Lower estrogen during menopause leads to bone loss, so bones become weaker and break more easily. If our team finds that you have osteoporosis, they’ll advise you and support your treatment as needed.
